Litigation Secretary
La Jolla (UTC Area) | Full-Time | Hybrid Salary: $85,000 - $115,000
A respected law firm in the UTC/La Jolla area is seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary to support a busy civil litigation practice. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys handling sophisticated litigation matters while enjoying a hybrid work schedule after an initial onboarding period.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- File documents in California state and federal courts, including e-filing.
- Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, and court appearances.
- Maintain and update litigation docketing systems and ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Assist with all phases of litigation, including discovery, trial preparation, and post-filing procedures.
- Schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, and other litigation-related events.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare expense reimbursements.
- Maintain client files and litigation records.
- Provide administrative and client support to assigned attorneys.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of litigation secretary experience preferred.
- Strong experience supporting state and federal civil litigation matters.
- Knowledge of California court rules, filing procedures, and litigation deadlines.
- Experience preparing document shells, finalizing pleadings, and navigating court requirements independently.
- Strong docketing and calendaring experience.
- Familiarity with the full litigation lifecycle, including discovery.
- Experience with legal technology such as iManage, NetDocuments, Milana/CompuLaw, Best Authority, PACER, and Microsoft Office is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and proofreading skills.
- Flexible, adaptable, and eager to learn new systems and procedures.

- Hybrid schedule: 3 remote days and 2 in-office days per week
- First month onsite for training and onboarding
- Consistent remote work schedule required
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
